Short answer: if you run a residential maid service and Housecall Pro feels like it was built for someone else, the strongest alternatives are ConvertLabs (website, booking form, recurring cleans and auto-charge in one), ZenMaid (office-first maid scheduling), BookingKoala (cleaning-style booking storefront) and Jobber (the closest like-for-like field-service platform). The right pick depends on how many people need a login and how much booking you want clients to do themselves.
This guide is for house cleaning company owners. We compare what matters for weekly and biweekly cleans, then do honest math for an owner plus five cleaners. If you want to click around while you read, you can start a ConvertLabs trial — it runs for 7 days.

Why cleaning companies leave Housecall Pro
Housecall Pro is a strong platform that plenty of HVAC, plumbing and electrical companies love. Its own FAQ says it is "designed for home service businesses like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, landscaping, and others" (Housecall Pro pricing). That breadth is exactly why some maid services start looking around.
1. Pricing is built around users, in tiers. Housecall Pro's pricing page asks "How many on your team will use Housecall Pro?" and then recommends a plan:
Basic: $59/mo billed annually or $79/mo monthly, 1 user included.
Essentials: $149/mo annually or $189/mo monthly, 5 users included.
Max: $299/mo annually or $329/mo monthly, 8 users included, $35/mo per additional user.
Housecall Pro can quote different amounts by industry; the figures above are the Basic, Essentials and Max rates published on its pricing page on November 8, 2026.
For a cleaning company, every cleaner who opens the app to see their day typically counts as a user. Essentials covers five people; the sixth is where it gets expensive. Housecall Pro's pricing page does not publish an extra-user price for Essentials, so the published route for a sixth person is Max.
2. The feature set leans toward the trades. Essentials adds flat-rate pricing, annotated photo reports, commissions and employee GPS. Max adds a sales proposal tool and "Recurring Service Plans" ("recurring maintenance agreements"). That is different from recurring cleaning jobs, which Housecall Pro does support: its help center shows how to create weekly, monthly and custom recurring jobs. But many tools you pay for as you climb tiers are built for repair and install work.
3. Your website is an add-on. Housecall Pro lists "Websites" among its add-ons, and most maid services win new clients through their booking page.
None of that makes Housecall Pro bad. It makes it a general field-service tool.
What a cleaning-specific tool does differently
A house cleaning business has a predictable rhythm: the same homes, every week or two, priced by size, with a card on file. Software built for that rhythm usually gives you:
Recurring series with frequency discounts — weekly, biweekly and monthly cleans that discount themselves automatically.
Instant quotes on the booking form — the client picks home size, frequency and extras (inside fridge, oven, windows) and sees a price, instead of requesting an estimate.
Card-on-file auto-charge — hold or save the card at booking, charge when the clean is done.
Website + booking in one — no separate site builder bill.
Provider-based pricing — you pay by plan or by number of cleaners rather than for every login.
ConvertLabs
ConvertLabs is booking, payments and website software used by 1,000+ home-service operators.
What you get for a maid service:
A website on every plan, with booking forms built in.
Online booking with recurring frequency discounts "baked into the flow," saved cards, promo codes and gift cards. The booking form shows clear pricing and custom intake fields like gate codes and pet info.
Card holds and auto-charge: authorize the card upfront and capture it automatically when the job is marked complete. For recurring bookings, ConvertLabs auto-generates future visits and charges the saved card on each completed visit.
Pricing (convertlabs.io/pricing), billed monthly:
Basic, $67/mo — website, customer and provider portals, up to 5 service providers, up to $5,000 monthly revenue, email support.
Professional, $197/mo — up to 15 providers, provider app (iOS & Android), scheduler, auto-charge, SMS notifications, email marketing, basic checklists, Zapier/NiceJob integrations, 3 admin and 3 staff accounts.
Enterprise, $397/mo — multi-location, unlimited admin/staff accounts, customizable checklists, iCal (Airbnb), webhooks, live chat support.
Only people who receive job assignments count as providers; admin and staff accounts are separate. ConvertLabs takes no cut of payments — your Stripe account's standard rates apply — and there are no per-booking fees. The trial is 7 days. The ConvertLabs team can walk you through bringing your clients and bookings over.
Best for: owners who want the website, booking form, recurring schedule and card charging in one place. For a deeper side-by-side, see Jobber vs ConvertLabs.
ZenMaid
ZenMaid is built for maid services and has a loyal following. From get.zenmaid.com/pricing:
Starter, $19/mo — up to 40 appointments a month, calendar/dispatch/map views, limited SMS and email templates, mobile app without cleaner GPS, Stripe/Square payments, chat-only support.
Pro, $39/mo — unlimited appointments, digital checklists, cleaner GPS, booking forms with ZenMaid branding, reports, payroll, Spotfinder for fitting new recurring clients.
Pro Max, $49/mo — PTO tracking, service ratings, all templates, data export, Mailchimp/Zapier, booking forms with your own branding, priority support.
Every plan notes "SMS charges not included," and the page has a calculator that asks how many cleaners and office managers you have, so your bill depends on headcount — check their calculator for your exact team. There is a 14-day free trial.
Best for: office-first maid services that want checklists, payroll reports and Spotfinder. Compare it directly in ConvertLabs vs ZenMaid.
BookingKoala
BookingKoala is a website-plus-booking-form platform used by many cleaning companies. From bookingkoala.com/pricing:
Starter, from $27/mo — 5 providers (or 5 GB), theme builder, your own domain, booking forms, smart scheduling, leads.
Growing, from $57/mo — 15 providers, advanced reports, referrals and ratings, gift cards, GPS and clock in/out, SMS notifications.
Premium, from $197/mo — 50 providers, campaigns (5,000 contacts), multi-step forms, daily discounts, hiring/onboarding, multilingual.
"Each team member is counted as a provider." BookingKoala lets you charge customer cards from inside the account and can match cards already stored in Stripe to customer profiles. Trial: 14 days per its FAQ.
Best for: owners who want a cleaning-style storefront and are comfortable configuring it themselves. See BookingKoala vs ConvertLabs.
Jobber
Jobber is the closest like-for-like swap for Housecall Pro: a general field-service platform with solid scheduling, quoting, invoicing and a website builder. A Jobber "user is anyone who accesses your account at the office or in the field to view or manage the team's schedule," and extra users are $29/mo each (getjobber.com/pricing).
Core — $49/mo no commitment, $39/mo with a 1-year commitment, $29/mo billed annually; 1 user. Online booking, quotes, invoices, website.
Connect — 1 user: $139 / $119 / $99. 5 users: $199 / $169 / $149. Adds automated client reminders, automatic payments, checklists, QuickBooks Online sync.
Grow — 1 user: $199 / $169 / $149. 5 users: $299 / $259 / $229. Adds two-way SMS, job costing, custom automations.
Online card processing is 2.9% + 30¢; the trial is 14 days on Grow.
Best for: companies that also quote one-off specialty work and want deep automation.
Price comparison for a 5-cleaner team
Here is the scenario: an owner who runs the office plus 5 cleaners who each use the app — 6 people. Who counts matters:
Housecall Pro and Jobber price by users, so all 6 count.
ConvertLabs and BookingKoala count providers (the people doing the cleaning), so 5 count; the owner uses an admin account.
ZenMaid's calculator asks for cleaners and office managers, so enter 6.
We priced the plan that includes reminders/SMS.
Tool | Plan that fits owner + 5 cleaners | Who counts | Monthly cost (no annual contract) | Annual-billing option | Card processing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Housecall Pro | Max (8 users) | 6 users | $329 | $299/mo | "as low as 2.59%" |
Jobber | Connect, 5 users + 1 extra | 6 users | $228 ($199 + $29) | Lower ($149 for 5 users + extra user) | 2.9% + 30¢ online |
ZenMaid | Pro or Pro Max + team members | 6 people | $39–$49 base + team-member fees (see calculator) + SMS | Not listed | Stripe/Square rates |
BookingKoala | Growing (15 providers, includes SMS) | 5 providers | from $57 | Not listed | Your processor's rates |
ConvertLabs | Professional (15 providers, auto-charge, SMS, app) | 5 providers | $197 | Not listed | Stripe standard rates, no ConvertLabs cut |
A few honest notes on that table:
Housecall Pro Essentials ($189/mo, 5 users) works if only five people log in. Adding a sixth means asking Housecall Pro about an extra seat or moving to Max.
Jobber Core plus five extra users ($49 + 5 × $29 = $194/mo) is cheaper on paper, but automated reminders and automatic payments start on Connect.
ConvertLabs Basic ($67) allows 5 providers, but it caps revenue at $5,000/month and doesn't include the scheduler, auto-charge, SMS or provider app, so most five-cleaner teams belong on Professional.
BookingKoala Starter ($27) covers 5 providers, but SMS notifications start on Growing.
Price isn't everything: a cheaper tool you spend weekends configuring can cost more than one that bills recurring clients on its own.

Switching checklist
Export from Housecall Pro: customers, addresses, notes, and a list of active recurring jobs (frequency, day, assigned cleaner, price).
Map your pricing: rebuild bedroom/bathroom/frequency pricing and extras in the new booking form before you invite clients.
Plan the card question: decide how saved cards will move or be re-collected; ask your new vendor what's possible with your processor.
Pick a cut-over date at the start of a week so recurring series line up.
Set up cleaners: add providers and working hours; get the app on every phone.
Turn on reminders and auto-charge, then test with one real booking end to end.
Tell clients: short email with the new booking link and what (if anything) they need to do.
Run both for a week, then cancel Housecall Pro before the next billing date (it has no long-term contract).
The ConvertLabs team can walk you through bringing your clients and bookings over.
